New Year

I can’t believe it is 2011! Christmas has come and gone, and Ashlynn is going to be one in just a few months!!! Christmas was amazing, we had such a great day.  To see Connor and Ashlynn get to be so spoiled by “Santa” and their amazing grandparents was really great!  Connor got so much stuff, like a Thomas train block set, punching bag, fishing pole, playdough stuff, new books and clothes, a DRUM!… And Ashlynn got a little purple puppy called Violet that she loves! You can download her name to the puppy so it says things like, “Hi Ashlynn, wanna play?”  She LOVES it!  I know Christmas is not about presents, but what a great feeling to be able to give our kids some things that made them really happy.  I am really looking forward to being able to tell them we are going to Disneyland I mean, when we do someday…

Almost Christmas

I think of this year as Connors real first Christmas, since this is the first year that he can really understand what is going on.  We went a little crazy with gifts for him, but Dave and I both are just so excited about it.

At the MOMS club Christmas party Connor saw Santa for the first time.  It was really really cute.  All of the kids quietly sat down on the floor around Santa, and Connor shouts, “Santa!! We put up a tree at our house for YOU!!” “Santa!!! We made cookies for YOU!!!”  I was laughing so much.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, and I just can’t wait to put out all our gifts and fill stockings and see his face when he gets up on Christmas morning.  As Connor has been saying all week, “Mom, this is going to be the best Christmas EVER!”

Ashy’s First Word

Ashlynn said her first word!  It was really sweet… we were sitting on the couch, Dave was playing Guitar Hero (Connor was “rocking out” as he calls it) and I had just finished feeding her a bottle.  She was sitting up on my lap and started “chatting” and then said “dada.” And I was like, “did she just say Dada?” and she goes “Ahhh, Dada” and I then got her to repeat it like 5 times in a row! She knows who Dada is, so it wasn’t a fluke.  I am so so glad Dave was there when she did it, it makes it really special. Of course, she doesn’t say it consistently yet, but it was such a great moment.

Easter Eggs

Today a friend of mine dropped off some plastic Easter eggs that I had asked to borrow for a MOMS club activity.  I needed about a dozen, but she brought a whole tub over so I could take what I needed and give the rest back.  Well, Connor fell in love with the tub of eggs and we basically played with them all day!  His imagination is so great, and he can think of endless things to do with them, from pretending to bake to stacking them on other things to make “trees” and all kinds of stuff. 

He has also been calling me “sweetheart” all day. Of course, when he says it, it sounds like “fweetheart.”  It is really cute! For example, when we were “baking” he said, “Now be careful sweetheart, the oven is very hot!”  It is so so funny.  He also told me that he wanted to go to the beach so we could make memories!  He saw it on an ad before Sesame Street, but it is really funny to hear him say that.

Ashlynn is really really close to crawling.  She scoots on her belly pretty quickly when she sees something that she wants.  She is really the sweetest baby, and I feel like she is growing too fast!  Connor kept calling her “my Ashlynn” today.  There is really no feeling that compares to seeing him being caring and protective of her.  I know that she has a really great protector in her brother.

My first post…

I decided to start a blog!! yay! This is (at this point) just for me to have a place to write about my kids, and have a record of the funny (and not so funny) things they do.  Because I won’t remember all of this stuff years from now, and I want to have a way to keep my memories brighter.  So, unless you are my Mom (or even if you are) you may find this stuff a bit boring.
